This Christmas - New Year period, we'll be here to assist you.

Whilst it won't be too busy, we will have staff available to help where required.

Please remember that the Titles Office and Courts (and others) will be closed during the break, but if there's anything we can do to assist, we certainly will. The Court’s mandated holiday closure this period covers Monday 26 December 2016 through to Friday 6 January 2017 inclusive.

We also note that the standard REIQ and other mainstream contracts list the period between Christmas and New Years as non-working days, so be mindful in your settlement date calculations.

Public Holiday Notice

Wednesday 10 August 2016 is a Public Holiday in the greater Brisbane area for the Royal Qld Show (The Ekka).

Our office will be closed whilst we spend a weeks wages on the kids eating junk food and buying overpriced show bags.

Overseas Witnessing of Queensland Land Titles Documents

Titles Registry Alert 125 and part 60, paragraph 60-0390 of Land Title Practice Manual set out Registry requirements and practice relating to witnessing paper instruments and documents outside Australia. Please be advised that these updated practices are mandatory for documents executed on or after 1 August 2016.

The section on overseas witnessing also includes links to the certifications for use where an instrument or document is witnessed overseas. 

Customers are reminded that there are two certifications:

1. The Australian Embassy/High Commission/Consulate Identity/Witnessing Certification which is to be used where the witness is an Australian Consular Officer or authorised employee at an Australian Consular Office.  This certification should be completed on a blank page and
should not be on a Form 20 – Schedule in accordance with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s requirements; and

2. The Identity/Witnessing Certification form for use by other authorised witnesses (e.g. notary publics, Australian lawyers) witnessing instruments or documents outside Australia.  This certification
should be completed on a Form 20 – Schedule.

Word and PDF versions of the Form 20 Identity/Witnessing Certification are available on the web page. Both formats are available for completion on the screen (electronic version) and for completion by hand.  A link to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s website which hosts the Australian Embassy/High Commission/Consulate Identity/Witnessing Certification is also available on this page.

New Fee Schedule from 1 July 2016

We’ve re-assessed our pricing schedule and have posted our updated Pricing Schedule, effective 1 July 2016.

We have made some adjustments to better reflect the time spent on some particularly time intensive tasks, whilst major services like settlements and searching remain unchanged.

If you have pre-allocated costs on any matters based on the previous pricing, please let us know after you have received your invoice. We’ll honour the old pricing through July in these instances.

Clients on fixed packages for settlements and the like remain at the same pricing levels.

If you would like to talk about a fixed price per matter (eg - Settle/Bank/Express Post inclusive), please give us a call.

New Titles Office registration fees for 2016-2017

The Titles Office have announced their new fee structure, effective 1 July 2016.

The old base fee of $169.00 increases to $175.00. Settlement Notices and Requisitions are up from $32.00 to $33.00.

New Form 24 Property Information

Titles Office Forms Update - Form 24—Property Information (Transfer) (Version 7) will be implemented for use from 21 March 2016 (announced 24 March 2016).

Form 24A has also been updated to Version 3.

Item 1(d) of the form has been changed to include provision of the Buyer’s email address for contact after settlement for valuation notices and related documents.

The continued use of Form 24— Property Information (Transfer) (Version 6) and Form 24A (Transmission Application) (Version 2) will be permitted until 22 April 2016.

The new versions of the forms MUST be lodged after 22 April 2016.

Old versions will prevent lodging, so be sure to update your templates now to avoid possible settlement and lodging failures.
